{"id":6985,"date":"2014-04-11T18:22:24","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T18:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ultraspire.com\/?p=6985"},"modified":"2014-12-22T18:57:17","modified_gmt":"2014-12-22T18:57:17","slug":"ode-isomeric-8oz-liza-howard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/de-stage.ultraspire.com\/en\/ode-isomeric-8oz-liza-howard\/","title":{"rendered":"Ode to the Isomeric 8oz  &#8211; Liza Howard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am on a \u201cneed to know basis\u201d with the details of my schedule these days.\u00a0 If information isn\u2019t immediately necessary for the conduct of my official duties as mother to a 6-year old and a new baby, I don\u2019t have it.\u00a0\u00a0 Where am I running this weekend?\u00a0 That\u2019s \u201cneed to know\u201d Saturday morning in the driveway. Dinner tonight? I\u2019ll think about that at five.<\/p>\n<p>All this is to say that while I\u2019d been enjoying the wonderful full catastrophe of motherhood, I hadn\u2019t given my hydration plan for the <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.umstead100.org\" target=\"_blank\">Umstead 100-mile<\/a> run much thought until the week before the race.\u00a0 I\u2019d be drinking.\u00a0 There\u2019d be an UltrAspire water bottle involved.\u00a0 There was a 12.5-mile loop I\u2019d have to cover eight times.\u00a0 That was known.\u00a0 So when I finally sat down with the race document and saw that there would be water stops every two miles or so, I sent a hurried email to UltrAspire.\u00a0 \u201cIs there any way I can get the <a href=\"http:\/\/ultraspire.com\/product\/isomeric-8-oz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Isomeric 8oz<\/a> handheld by Thursday?\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019d never run with such a small water bottle before, but 20oz seemed like overkill with that kind of aid station support.\u00a0 And what better place to test gear than an important race?<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019ve got to say, that little handheld was absolutely perfect.\u00a0 I could cinch it down, so it fit snugly against my hand.\u00a0 And I could easily fit two gels between the bottle and the mesh sides.\u00a0\u00a0 And it was so light.\u00a0 I PR\u2019d at Umstead and set a course record of 15:07, and I\u2019m not going to say the little handheld was responsible for that, but it sure made the journey a lot easier than it would have been.\u00a0 Living in South Texas, I don\u2019t get the opportunity to run with just 8oz of water much, so I think I\u2019m going to use it in combination with my hydration vest.\u00a0\u00a0 That\u2019s how much I love carrying it.\u00a0 And that\u2019s all you need to know.
