{"id":1191,"date":"2012-11-08T10:29:24","date_gmt":"2012-11-08T17:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ultraspire.net\/?p=1191"},"modified":"2012-11-08T10:29:24","modified_gmt":"2012-11-08T17:29:24","slug":"krissy-moehl-otter-trail-run-race-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/de-stage.ultraspire.com\/de\/krissy-moehl-otter-trail-run-race-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Krissy Moehl Otter Trail Run Race Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Krissy Moehl&#8217;s Race Report tease on Otter Trail Run 2012&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1192\" title=\"A brief report on Krissy's Record Smashing Run\" src=\"http:\/\/ultraspire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/665338_10151252116701422_1136665147_o.jpg\" alt=\"Krissy Mohel smashes the Otter Trail Run 2012 Record\" width=\"617\" height=\"1106\" \/><\/p>\n<div>After being easily lulled to sleep by the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean the night before and sleeping incredibly soundly that night, the 4am rumblings of my cabin-mates were welcomed. \u00a0The bowl of Jungle Oats porridge with peanut butter drew a couple of funny looks from the lodge staff, but the warm bowl of hearty fuel sat well for the 50km shuttle ride to the race start.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1194\" title=\"Otter Trail Run 2012 Start Line\" src=\"http:\/\/ultraspire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1073-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Otter Trail Run 2012 Start Line\" width=\"590\" height=\"442\" \/><\/div>\n<div>&#8230;<\/div>\n<div>A short ride down to the beach and the chilly morning air kept the 12 passengers sitting tight rather than jumping out of the van too quickly. \u00a0The view out the windows was rather inviting though with the amazing sunrise, waves crashing on the wide, open beach and the cliffs rising up from the ocean less than a kilometer away.<\/div>\n<div>&#8230;<\/div>\n<div>The chatter and jokes of the predawn ride filled the small van as we journeyed out of Storms River, back up to the N2 highway and in to the Nature&#8217;s Valley access. \u00a0The memories of my hike there seven years prior came flooding back&#8230; we had walked the final 11k&#8217;s to our pre-planted car, shoulders weary from the heavy backpacks and bellies hungry for something other than camp food&#8230; Snapping back to the\u00a0<strong><em>now, now<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0a fellow runner wished me good luck and we piled out of the vans to stop at the\u00a0<em><strong>lou<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0so as to not make a mess of the beautiful beach start. \u00a0A short ride down to the beach and the chilly morning air kept the 12 passengers sitting tight rather than jumping out of the van too quickly. \u00a0The view out the windows was rather inviting though with the amazing sunrise, waves crashing on the wide, open beach and the cliffs rising up from the ocean less than a kilometer away.<\/div>\n<div>&#8230;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Time for a quick swim in the middle of the race.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1193\" title=\"Krissy jumping in the river during the Otter Trail Run 2012 Race.
